Yvonne Tu Herman | I am a parent of a Gr12 student and hope to be on the council for the 4th consecutive year. Encouraging passionate parents to step up to be part of the executive council and bring new insights, vision & energy. Stepping down from 3 years as the CSC co-chair, I have seen how this council has helped shaped the school, community and the Board’s decisions. Looking forward to another great year.
Barrington Lue Sang | The First Nominee was instrumental in assisting with fund raising and program coordination at St. Patrick Catholic School for the past 6 years. Her experience, attention to detail and drive to maintain a high level of quality education for the students will be a major benefit to the council.
Carolyn Lamy | Carolyn Lamy is a committed leader in education with over 16 years of educational administration and instructional leadership (K-12) in both the independent school environment and the public school environment. She is currently an elementary principal with the York Region District School Board.
Carolyn has expertise in strategic visioning, fundraising, policy development and implementation, inclusive design, culturally relevant and responsive pedagogy, and building inclusive communities and partnerships. Carolyn is also a Brother Andre alumnae and was a student in the Pioneer Class for grades 9 and 10. She is excited to partner with other parents to support school initiatives and fundraise to support opportunities for all students. Supporting mental health and well-being and ensuring that all families have voice and opportunities to belong to the community is an area Carolyn is most passionate about. She is willing and interested in supporting School Council in any capacity. Carolyn has a son, Samuel Lamy in Grade 9. He is new to YRCDSB and is having a BLAST!!! |

Irene Beninato | I am an active Parent and community member. I have been co-secratary for 2 years on the St. Brother Andre Catholic School council. I also am an executive member of the St. Julia Billiart Catholic elementary school. It’s important to me to stay involved and participate in the quality of education of my children and others. They are our future. What happens now, how it happens, what and even where they learn will have a big impact on all of our futures.
Maria Goldson | Maria was baptised at the Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church in Kingston Jamaica. She received her First Holy Communion at the St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic church and the Sacrament of Confirmation at the Holy Family Cathedral (HFC) in the Diocese of St. John’s Basseterre, St. John’s Antigua. In that parish, she made history to be one of the first female acolytes to serve. She attended Mass weekly, while accompanying her grandmother and became a devote Catholic in the process. Maria became a member of every catholic church in each community she occupied. Her nature to service again became evident as she returned to her Stella Maria Parish later in life and became a Sunday School teacher for 3 years where she found she had a passion for the spiritual well being of children and wanted to foster their love and appreciation for the church as she did as a child. In her relatively new home of Markham, Ontario again she would like to offer her assistance in a way that will promote Jesus’ message for children in her community and so she offers her self-nomination to the serve of the St. Brother Andre Catholic School Council.

My main motivation for joining this council is to support students/parents and teachers/staff in creating a transparent and collaborative community. I have over ten years of experience working with Parent Councils at various schools such as St. Edward, St. Patrick CES and most recently St. Brother Andre. I’ve spent most of my parenting life in various positions giving back to the community, and I look forward to continuing my support to the community at St. Brother Andre.

Kirkor (Kirk) Apel | I am the proud father of 2, one a St. Brother Andre Catholic High School Graduate and the youngest, a current student in Grade 9. I have been happily married for 22 years in Markham. By profession, I have been a lawyer for 24 years, as a sole practitioner and my office is also in Markham. I am a student alumni and graduate of Senator O’Connor Catholic High School many years ago (1981-1985) in Toronto and when I first walked into St. Brother Andre, my heart was warmed by the fact that the longstanding virtues and values I personally experienced in the 1980’s has continued, unabated. I hope to contribute to that.
Alka Sahadath | I would like to be a voting member of the schools parent council.
Frank Vignando | I’m a father of a grade 9 student looking to help out wherever needed in service of the school community, especially during this “new normal” we are all coping with. With a background in electrical engineering and software development for many years, I’m currently transitioning into new areas of sustainability and the environment; currently pursing certification in LEED (energy efficiency) and WELL (healthy buildings). If selected, this would be my first sitting on school council. Previous community involvement has included working with a local theatre group (set building/painting), making PPE (masks) early in the pandemic, and environmental awareness projects within the city. Thank you for your consideration.
