We are so proud to unveil the NEW school crest! This is one of many project we have undertaken this year to redefine the culture of our school as a reflection of our patron saint, St. Andre Bessette. This beautiful design was created by Grade 11 student Isabella Vignando. Many thanks to Ms. Mendes for assisting with the finishing touches.
We received many wonderful submissions for our crest design contest. We were especially impressed by the thoughtfulness of this design and its connections to St. Brother Andre:
The design is enclosed by a shape that resembles a door, a reference to St. Brother Andre’s job as a doorkeeper at Notre Dame College. The “flower” in the centre is meant to represent the Lily of St. Joseph, for whom St. Brother Andre had a special devotion. The ‘petals’ are different colours (our school colours) which represent the diversity of our school community and the small circles are meant to show the petals as people. There are three petals, in keeping with our Trinitarian teachings. The “stem” of the lily is a cross, which is a central image of our faith – it holds us all together. Tucked within the door is our new school motto, ‘Open the door. Let in the light.’ An infographic was posted on social media during Catholic Education Week that explains the significance of this phrase.
The new branding will be officially in place as of September 2024.
