NEEDED! STUDENT MENTAL HEALTH AMBASSADORS

THIS MESSAGE IS SENT ON BEHALF OF THE YCDSB MENTAL HEALTH LEAD.

We are excited to begin recruitment for additional student mental health ambassadors for the 2024-2025 school year. 

We are looking for 1 student in grade 10 next year AND 1 student in grade 11 or 12 next year per high school to serve as their school’s student mental health ambassador for the 2024-2025 school year.

The Student MH Ambassadors will represent the student voice, act as representatives of the student body and work with the Teacher MH Ambassadors, administration and clubs/councils (that have student mental health as an area of focus) to bring mental health initiatives to their school and to engage with the student body around building mental health literacy and reducing stigma.

Selected applicants will be invited to attend a training/planning day where they will learn more about mental health, where to find help, how to help a friend and general leadership skills. Together with their fellow  Student MH Ambassadors, they will work in groups to create social media resources, posters, awareness campaigns, etc. that can be used during the school year.

Student Requirements

In order for a student to be considered, the following criteria must be met: 

  • Must be able to attend central meetings (2 per semester) 
  • Cannot be enrolled in Co-op for the next school year
  • Cannot be on the Executive team of another Council 

Application Requirements

DUE DATE: Applications are due by Thursday June 20, 2024. No late applications will be considered. 

Once google forms have been received, the applications for each school will be shared with each school admin team. We ask that school admin teams review the applications with their Mental Health Ambassadors and select their two student mental health ambassadors ambassadors.
