As a Catholic learning community, we are dedicated to living the message of the Gospel by supporting those in need.
On October 15, all elementary and secondary schools in the York Catholic District School Board join organizations across the globe in observing the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Food insecurity is a growing reality in York Region and has become an obstacle to school attendance. Last year, $46,273.55 was raised by YCDSB families, staff and community members. Aligned with our Catholic Social Teachings, 100% of the funds were used to support families in need. These funds have been instrumental in supporting regular student attendance by reducing barriers.
If you are able, we ask for your support in the 3nd annual Toonie Civvies Day fundraiser in support of our neighbours. We will be having a Civvies day on Thursday, October 15, 2026. Students can bring their donation to their homeroom class starting on Tuesday, October 13th.

There is also a Canada Helps page where members of the community can support this fundraiser. You can click here and locate the “Apply your donation to a fund set up by this charity” dropdown box on the right hand side of the screen. Select “YCDSB – Eradication of Poverty” in that dropdown.
The Attendance Counselling Service team will access these funds to provide individualized assistance to help students attend school regularly. If you are able to donate to this fundraiser, we will be truly grateful for your support.
